5 Things To Be Thankful For This Thanksgiving

This weekend is very special. It is one that comes along once a year, spreading the cheer of cranberry sauce spiced with just a little bit of hope to make it through until Christmas. A celebration that I cherish dearly due to it being finally acceptable to eat my weight in turkey, mashed potatoes, and take adorable family photos. Of course, I am talking about Thanksgiving! This year, if you are just not feeling in the pre-Halloween spirit, look at this list. A list of all the reasons you should be happy this year.

#1: If your nostalgia had been lacking lately, just know Miley Cyrus performed The Climb on national television.

What can you learn from Miley? Be thankful of your roots. Sure, you may not be the same person you were four years ago, but never forget where you came from and how much you have evolved in the best ways possible.

#2: Be thankful for the fact that it is socially acceptable for an entire weekend to eat as much turkey as humanly possible. This is for you Ross!

#3: The new Chance the Rapper song with Torontonian Daniel Caesar is reason enough to have a wonderful Thanksgiving. The song doesn’t have a title yet, and that makes it the more mysterious and breathtaking.

This song made me be thankful for the world I live in. I dwell on first world problems all the time and haven’t realized how fortunate I am to have the life I am given. The song also made me realize I need to take more chances in life and not focus on the “what if’s”. Nothing comes from standing on the sideline. Take action.

#4: Be thankful for matching socks. There is nothing better than the feeling of having one lonely sock festering in your drawer for months and then finding its pair in the wash. That is what finding love must feel like.

#5: Society has been completely controlled by technology in the past 10 years. Many complain that we need more face time instead of being hunched over on-screen. You talked, Apple listened. Be thankful for the iPhone X, which has no buttons yet can only be unlocked by visual face recognition. Hows that for face to face?

….also if you do not have the iPhone X, you have your priorities in check

All jokes aside, what you really should embrace this Thanksgiving is the fact you have a roof over your head, people around the table with you, and a feeling that can only be described as home. Sure, no body’s life is perfect, but it is as good as it gets.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving,
