~*Thank you*~
Thank you for everything you have done for me. You, yes you. The one sitting behind the screen reading this right now. You are here, reading this, liking my posts, following up every week. You are the reason that I keep doing what I am doing. I share my stories, experiences, and wit that I only find funny, for you. You may not want it, but you keep coming back for more and to that I am (first of all confused why you enjoy Sock The Walk) honoured. I love you. A wise young lady once said, “Even though they don’t know me, I know they love me” (One Direction fan in This Is Us who is my new saviour)
It all started on a Saturday night. I was at my aunt’s house sitting in her room, waiting for time to pass by and got bored. That is when I decided to make a blog. I know what you may be thinking…this is your way of fighting boredom? A permanent mark on the internet? Funnily enough, yes. I have always loved writing, whether it was in school or in a journal of poems galore. I decided that a blog would be a fun way of expressing myself, because no one would read it right? Wrong. I wrote my first blog post and woke up with 13 views. 13 PEOPLE WANTED TO READ MY BLOG. Those numbers may seem small to you, but the meant everything to me.
In the preceding few months, a lot happened. I posted weekly, built up a following (I know people follow me!), and had fun with it by still being me. My absolute highlight was getting an amazing logo.
Can you believe that I have a logo?! No little girl can ever imagining building something worth having a logo for, it was as if I was living in a fantasy. Then people started wanting to work with me, that was eye-opening. When the questions started rolling in, I realized that I had power. *evil laugh* Not power that I would use in a negative way, yet power that I could help someone else, maybe enhance their day by a smile or a giggle. I had never felt powerful before, I had a problem in the past that made me rethink my worth, but Sock The Walk and you guys made my confidence go up. Making me who I am today. This year has been the most pivotal year of my life. I got to explore what I did and didn’t like, build an image, and got a few jobs because of this funny named blog.
The reason I am where I am is because of you. The feedback, the likes, the views, you really keep me on my toes, you are the cherry on top. I created this blog as a creative outlet and way of self-esteem, Sock the walk may not seem like that… but it is.
So let’s celebrate the year. Celebrate our victories, our failures, because no year is perfect. I hope this is not my only anniversary to ever be celebrated on this blog. I would love to expand, collab with other bloggers and maybe make a tee shirt or two. I would also love to help an organization with the influence of this blog…
Here’s to many more years to come!
I love you so much and am forever grateful
Happy Sockin Sunday
