VEG RECIPE: Black Bean Burgers

“I want to go vegetarian” … words that I never would have imagined to spill from my mouth. Yet in January, they certainly did. Maybe it was  because of the pig dissection or the way it sat on my plate, but I could not muster up the courage to eat meat. Ever since January, I have been obsessed with quinoa, veggie ground, and falafel balls. The recipe that I will be showing today is a go to; Black Bean Burgers.  This recipe is a ride or die and will give you an authentic meaty taste (and look) if that is what you are going for.




15 ounces black beans, drained and rinsed

2 tbsp ketchup

1 tbsp HP sauce 

3 cloves garlic (peeled)

1/2 onion (wedges)

⅓ cup instant oats

1 carrot (peeled and shredded)

1/2 a red pepper

Buns (my burger don’t want none unless you got buns hun)


  1. Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees farenheit
  2. In a medium bowl, mash black beans with a fork until they are thick and pasty
  3. Finely chop the pepper, onion, and garlic (or food processor) and put into bean paste
  4. Shred the carrot and put into the bowl, stir
  5. Condiment Time! Mix in the ketchup and hp sauce
  6. Crack the egg into the mixture
  7. Put the oats into the mixture and stir until the patties stick together
  8. Divide the mixture into 4+ patties (depending on desired size)
  9. Place patties on baking sheet and bake 10 mins per side
  10. Fin!

For moderation you can grill the patties for 8 minutes per side (if you decide a grill will be best)
